Princess Leonor of Spain, 17, looked elegant in a floral dress in Madrid today.

"Princess Leonor of Spain & her sister "Infanta Sofia" embraced the summer trend as they stepped out in Madrid today with their parents."

The 17-year-old heir to the throne and her 16-year-old younger sister opted for Barbie pink outfits as they attended the Board of Directors of the Spanish Committee of the United World Colleges Foundation, Scholarship Sponsors, and Students at the Zarzuela Palace.

Leonor looked elegant in a white wrap dress adorned with large purple and pink flowers, while Sofia sported a bright pink mini dress for the occasion.

The sisters have been making a series of public appearances recently, marking a step forward in their royal duties as they prepare to take the spotlight.

The appearance comes as Leonor, who has just graduated from UWC Atlantic College in Wales, known as 'Hippy Hogwarts', prepares to begin her military training in August.

The sisters were accompanied by their parents at the event, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, who smiled proudly as they stood alongside their daughters.

Queen Letizia, a former journalist, opted for an elegant white dress with a belt for the occasion, perfectly showcasing her summer tan.

This follows Princess Leonor being seen visiting the military academy she will attend for the first time.

"The 17 years old heir to the throne matched her mother with a simple monochromatic dress when she stepped out at the "General Military Academy" in Zaragoza last week."

While proudly standing beside her mother, Queen Letizia, and her father, King Felipe, Leonor stunned in a summery white dress with black polka dots and a belt.

Leonor is set to begin her military training before the end of the summer in August.

"While many of her peers will be going to university, the eldest daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia will return to Spain to start her training."

"Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed Princess Leonor of Asturias' next step earlier this year to society bible Tatler."

The training will include periods in the army, the Spanish Navy, and the Air Force.

"Robles confirmed, "In due course, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces will be a woman, and in recent years, we have been making a very important effort to incorporate women into the armed forces.""

The Princess will begin her training at the Military Academy of the Army in Zaragoza, then attend the naval school, and complete her three years at the General Air Force Academy.

"In Sept. of last year, the Spanish palace announced that Princess Leonor will go to university to study law once she has completed her three years of military training."

"While Leonor's university choice is unknown, her academic path already bears a resemblance to that of her father, King Felipe."

After graduating from high school at Lakefield College in Canada, Felipe returned to Spain and attended the General Military Academy in Zaragoza, then went on to study at the Naval Military School in Marín.

He completed his military training with a stint on the Juan Sebastián Elcano training ship at the age of 18 in 1987 and studied law at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
